May Newsletter 2024

It has been a busy few months with TEFAF deliveries and after-sales. We are now gearing up for some travel in June, including visiting the Printemps Asiatiques in Paris and the Oriental Ceramics Society study trip to Oxfordshire. We will of course share the wonderful things we see on our social media!

We are also preparing a schedule of autumn events, including three open gallery weekends and our participation in PAN Amsterdam. You can find all the dates below, so you can note them in your diary. We have also included some interesting exhibitions and books, which we think you will enjoy!

We will of course also be visiting Paris in June, as there is a full programme of interesting events and exhibitions. We particularly recommend the rare opportunity to visit the fabulous Musée d’Ennery on 7 June.

Musée Guimet, Paris

Au coeur de la couleur

This exhibition traces the long history of Chinese porcelain and grand feu colours from the 8th - 18th centuries. 250 Masterpieces illustrate the Chinese taste for formal simplicity and purity of colours.

Porcelain Fever: The White Gold of Augustus the Strong & Madame de Pompadour
Until 1 September 2024

The exhibition portrays the genesis of European porcelain - a fiercely competitive struggle for making ‘White Gold’. This exhibition features masterpieces from world-famous porcelain collections including Dresden and Sèvres. There is also a podcast (in Dutch), in which curators Laura Smeets and Denise Campbell tell the story of early European porcelain, replete with drama, intrigue and espionage!
